A leading provider of plant automation solutions is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer to design and execute end-to-end material handling automation projects. This is a hands-on, senior-level role ideal for someone with a deep background in electrical design, PLC/HMI programming, and project leadership. If you're energized by solving complex control challenges and mentoring junior engineers, this is a high-impact opportunity to lead from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, estimate, and manage material handling automation projects from start to finish

Create UL 508A-compliant electrical control panel designs using E-Plan and DraftSight

Program Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and related Rockwell software (FactoryTalk View ME/SE, RSLogix)

Oversee in-house system checkout and support customer acceptance testing

Write detailed manuals and documentation for delivered systems

Lead or collaborate on on-site troubleshooting, installations, and start-ups

Act as project manager, coordinating timelines, budgets, customer communication, and internal teams

Provide mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate closely with mechanical and purchasing departments

Stay up to date on industry trends and contribute to design innovation and product development

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Proficient with E-Plan and DraftSight (or AutoCAD)

Strong knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and NFPA industrial control standards

Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and control systems

Prior work in OEM machine building, plant automation, or system integration environments

UL MTR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Excellent time management, communication, and troubleshooting skills

Comfortable working independently and juggling multiple active projects

Willingness to travel for project installation, testing, and support
