Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/22/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job ID 33762091 Facility Info Location: Illinois (IL license required at submission) Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital Trauma Level: Level I Trauma Center Total Beds: 562 Charting System: Cerner Scrub Color: Any solid color Parking: Free with permit provided during orientation Shift Details Shift: 3x12-hour nights (18:45-07:15) Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend On-Call: No Floating: Required to MedSurg and like units; may include affiliate hospitals Block Schedule: Not guaranteed, but 3 shifts in a row often possible Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week, client may cancel up to 36 hrs per 13-week contract Candidate Requirements Experience: Minimum 1 year Med/Surg required Preferred: Ortho trauma, neuro, telemetry, wound care, post-MI, CVA First-time travelers accepted Certifications: BLS and NIHSS (AHA/Red Cross only) License: Active IL RN license required at submission Compliance: Strict-must complete all onboarding and documentation timely RTO Limit: Up to 5 days (non-holiday); more requires approval Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 major holidays Modules: Up to 16 hours non-billable; completed virtually Day 1 Patient Info Unit: Med-Surg (4B), general with stroke overflow Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics Daily Census: ~21 Patient Ratio: 1:5 for all shifts Common Diagnoses: Respiratory illness, infection, stroke, trauma, surgical overflow Procedures/Equipment: Wound care, VACs, chest tubes Central/peripheral IVs, tube feeding Colostomy care, insulin protocols Oxygen delivery methods (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, etc.) Rapid Response involvement Cerner charting Summary This is a Night Shift Med Surg RN role at a Level I Trauma Center in IL. Float flexibility, strong Med-Surg experience, and full compliance are required. Candidates must hold an active IL license, be open to floating, and work 2 of 3 major holidays. Preferred candidates will have telemetry and neuro experience, though first-time travelers are welcome.
