Job Position: Food Service Lead
Location: Great Valley School District, KD Markley and General Wayne Elementary
Pay Rate: $16.75/hr
Shift: 7:30AM -2:00PM

Position Summary: Join the Great Valley School District Food Service Department as a
Certified Food Manager
in one of our elementary school cafeterias. This position plays a vital role in ensuring nutritious, safe, and appealing meals are served daily to students in accordance with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Staff are hired district-wide and may be reassigned based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain
Chester County Health Department Certified Food Manager
status. Supervise and train food service staff on safe food handling procedures. Coordinate and place weekly food orders; track inventory and supplies. Receive, store, and organize food deliveries following FIFO procedures. Maintain accurate temperature logs and food safety documentation. Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to daily meal counts and production records. Operate the point of sale (POS) system, prepare daily deposits, and manage register. Ensure sanitation and safety in all food preparation and serving areas. Act as liaison for food-related communication with school staff, students, and parents. Assist with catering planning and execution. Complete monthly inventory and manage food recall procedures. Review and respond to student allergy information in collaboration with the Nutrition & Garden Coordinator. Participate in annual professional development (minimum 6 hours/year). Required Experience:
Experience in quantity food production, cooking, catering, and customer service. Familiarity with POS systems, food inventory, and health department compliance. Leadership or supervisory experience in a food service setting preferred. Knowledge of:
Safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety protocols. School nutrition program standards. Interpersonal skills with professionalism, tact, and courtesy. Organization and food quality control methods. Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 40+ lbs, stand for long periods, bend, reach, pivot, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks. Uniform Requirements:
Black pants, polo shirt, closed-toe rubber-soled shoes, hat or hairnet, and apron.
