Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for full consideration.Our Core Values We LOVE DeSoto •L- We lift up our community •O- We take ownership of our collective performance •V- We value and respect all employees •E- We empower employees to grow The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of work which results in or contributes to the accuracy of utility water meters and the proper functioning of associated appurtenances such as registers, radios, meter cans and lids, etc. This is accomplished by installing, removing, calibrating, repairing and testing water meters; programing and troubleshooting remote metering equipment such as radios and electronic handheld units; turning water services on or off; and investigating customer complaints regarding their water meter. This work is performed under the general supervision of the Meter Services Coordinator. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Fulfills daily work orders Investigates and troubleshoots issues with Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters Assists with the reading of water meters as needed Schedules the replacement and testing of commercial meters by coordinating meter change out times with customers, preparing the sites for meter change outs, and enlisting contractor services as needed Maintains an inventory of water meter parts and supplies; scheduling vendor deliveries or retrieves parts from vendor locations, when necessary Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent A minimum of one year of experience in the installation, removal, calibration, repair and testing of water meters and in the programing and troubleshooting of AMI equipment.
