Northrop Grumman Space Systems Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Systems Engineer Architect (24-495) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. Essential Functions: Analyzing high-level needs and refining the need into an integrated set of hardware and software through a structured and logical approach.
Identifying & defining desired system capabilities.
Communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
Generating architecture artifacts to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.
Designing and developing new systems and integrating existing systems.
Communicating and interacting with the customer and related system programs, including presenting technical approaches and findings in written and verbal form.
Ensuring conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for the system's design and technology maturity constraints.
Developing systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definition.
Supporting internal and external design reviews.
Maintaining knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies.
Leading portions of the activity.
Developing models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.
Able to effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Basic Qualifications: An active Secret clearance is required to start.
Bachelors degree in a STEM Engineering discipline or related field with 8 years experience, or a Masters degree in a STEM Engineering discipline with 6 years of experience.
Experience developing system engineering artifacts, including specifications, interface control documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, and trade studies.
Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers.
Engineering leadership, identifying and defining desired capabilities and fielding new capabilities.
Experience with applying and using systems engineering tools for requirements management and Object-oriented requirements definition (e.g.,
DOORS ).
Experience using C2BMC processes and methods.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with training system development is desirable.
Familiarity with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems is desirable.
