General Summary: TheThe MSP Engineer II delivers advanced technical support and system administration services to clients in a managed services environment. This role serves as an escalation point for support engineers, ensuring client systems remain secure, reliable, and aligned with best practices. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a customer-focused approach in a fast-paced MSP environment. Essential Job Functions: Configure, monitor, and maintain client systems including servers, storage, networks, firewalls, and cloud environments. Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure environments (user administration, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, security policies). Implement and support backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Windows servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, Scale Computing and others). Perform system upgrades, patch management, and proactive monitoring through RMM tools. Collaborate with other engineers to provide mentorship, knowledge sharing, and escalation support. Participate in client onboarding, technology refreshes, and project deployments. Document technical procedures, solutions, and client environment details in the PSA system. Provide on-site support when required and participate in the scheduled on-call rotation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Customer service mindset with professional presentation. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent professional experience. 57 years of IT experience, with prior work in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment preferred. Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of network and workstation operating systems, Microsoft Windows operating systems, and Cloud Technologies Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and Azure services. Hands-on experience with networking (firewalls, switches, VPNs, VLANs, routing). Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Datto, or similar). Knowledge of security best practices (EDR, MFA, compliance frameworks). Experience with RMM/PSA tools (ConnectWise, Kaseya, N-able, or similar). Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with clients in a professional manner. Demonstrated experience with web and internet technologies.
