Lead Network Engineer
to join our energetic and entrepreneurial team working on various technology projects. Follow us at - https://www.linkedin.com/company/altagrove What you will do: Oversee and execute the installation, configuration, and optimization of advanced shipboard Wi-Fi and network systems, ensuring secure, high-performance connectivity across the vessel. Act as the primary technical lead for projects, coordinating team activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and liaising with customers and stakeholders in dynamic environments. Lead small technical teams on-site and offshore, setting priorities, assigning tasks, and ensuring project milestones are met. Coordinate with shipboard leadership, program managers, and engineering staff to align technical efforts with operational needs. Serve as the main contact for troubleshooting escalations and client communications. Oversee installation, testing, and maintenance of shipboard Wi-Fi / 5G systems, cabling infrastructure, and IP networking equipment. Configure network hardware and software, including routing, VLAN design, IP subnetting, and security measures. Ensure installation standards, documentation, and integration into shipboard systems are met. Create, review, and update technical drawings, schematics, and as-built documentation. Conduct site surveys to define requirements for power, rack space, cabling, and equipment distribution. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues independently and with your team. Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians on installation practices, safety, and troubleshooting. Maintain detailed project logs, reports, and client deliverables. Lead projects in various locations, including shipyards, customer facilities, and at-sea environments. Travel frequently, including internationally and offshore, for installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting. What you will bring: Minimum of 5 years experience in satellite communications and network engineering, preferably maritime. Proven leadership in satellite communication systems (VSAT, Inmarsat, etc.). Technical expertise in LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VoIP, and RF systems. Experience with technical diagrams, schematics, and network documentation. Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and satellite ground stations. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and client communication skills. Ability to work independently and lead under pressure. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (military/professional experience accepted). Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Willingness to travel extensively, including offshore and international assignments.
