What you will do: Support the installation, configuration, and optimization of shipboard Wi-Fi systems to ensure reliable and high-performance connectivity throughout the vessel. Troubleshoot and resolve Wi-Fi connectivity issues, performing regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal performance. Support the design and implement shipboard cabling infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of shipboard cabling to identify and rectify potential issues before they impact network performance. Develop and maintain detailed shipboard technical drawings and schematics, documenting all network components, cabling routes, and integration points. Update technical drawings to reflect changes and upgrades to the shipboard network infrastructure. Daily operations include configuration of various IP networking equipment, IP network planning to include routing configuration, IP Subnet allocation, VLAN design, and documentation (as-built, network diagrams, test plans, etc.). Perform site surveys for the installation of IP hardware at customer facilities to identify interface requirements, power budgets, rack space requirements, distribution of hardware, and cable patching (serial and Ethernet). Manage the integration of shipboard networks, including the planning, installation, and configuration of network hardware and software. Follow industry best practices during installation activities to ensure installation of equipment is professional and tidy within the racks and all cables are labeled with appropriate codes and interfaces. Support network moves, upgrades, and changes including hardware installation/configuration. Build Ethernet and serial cables during installation activities. Execute independently in client-facing environment. Display excellent writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Independently create compelling, client-facing deliverables. Provide excellent analytical skills, consulting approach, and attention to detail. Bring a technical aptitude and ability to learn technical concepts. Use proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project. Must be flexible to travel periodically in support of customer engagements and conferences. What you will bring: Minimum of 5 years of experience in satellite communication systems and network engineering, preferably in a maritime environment. Proven experience with the integration, configuration, and maintenance of satellite communication systems on vessels. In-depth knowledge of satellite communication technologies, including VSAT, Inmarsat, and other maritime satellite systems. Proficient in network engineering, including the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VoIP systems on board vessels. Familiarity with shipboard cabling standards, RF systems, and antenna alignment. Proficiency in network configuration and management tools, such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Experience with satellite ground station equipment, including modems, antennas, and RF systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve satellite and network-related issues on board vessels. Ability to work independently and in a team environment to address technical challenges and ensure seamless network operations. Willingness to travel and work on board vessels for extended periods, including offshore assignments. Ability to adapt to changing work environments and respond to urgent technical issues in a timely manner. Bachelor's Degree from 4-year College/University or equivalent experience (e.g. Military or professional experience). Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. US citizenship required.
