Position Summary: The Quality Assurance / Quality Compliance Manager will spearhead our Food Safety, Organic Certification, and Quality Assurance programs. This strategic role involves maintaining and enhancing our certifications, managing compliance, communicating the value of our food safety initiatives to stakeholders, and creating and leading a skilled QA/QC team. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and leadership development as the company expands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Oversee all aspects of Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and Social Responsibility programs, including GFSI and SMETA certifications. Continuously enhance our standards by updating GMPs, GAPs, and QA policies.
- Compliance and Documentation: Develop and enforce SOPs and guidelines essential for maintaining 3rd-party and customer certifications. Oversee all HACCP documentation and conduct regular facility audits. Must have previous direct experience in auditing with A results
- Team Development and Training: Build, train, and lead a qualified QA/QC team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, high performance, and expert knowledge in QA and food safety protocols. Must be able to foster a culture of collaboration with other departments.
- Supplier and Customer Coordination: Establish and maintain high-quality standards with suppliers and customers, ensuring alignment with our safety and quality goals.
- Quality Control: Implement robust quality control measures, manage product holds, and ensure effective product rotations. Investigate and address product rejections through corrective actions.
- Innovation Support: Aid in new product development and the introduction of new processes or equipment, providing critical QA insights.
- Experience: At least 3 years in a QA/QC management role, within the food production or Fresh Cut industry. Previous produce experience of some sort is a must
- Certifications: HACCP Certification. Experience creating programs from the ground up and undergoing audits with A results is a must
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in the latest food safety digital platforms and strong ability to develop key performance indicators.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with all organizational levels and with customers/vendors directly
- Leadership: Proven leadership abilities with experience in team building, training, and mentoring effective teams.
- Ability to work with other teams, distill and transfer key information to other departments
- High Organizational skills and ability to self-start and set execution priorities
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Capability to work in various temperatures and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Language Skills: Basic Spanish communication is a must. Total fluency is preferred
