The work you will do includes assisting with conducting safety assessments, responding to citizen requests, managing safety study consultant contracts and the Local Road Safety Program, and supporting other safety-related activities.

Your specific responsibilities include developing and reviewing engineering reports and studies, developing and managing professional and contractual service contracts, and participating in meetings, on committees, task teams and other groups with internal and external customers to represent traffic engineering interests.
The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities: knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices, management principles and practices, traffic operations analysis and study techniques, Florida's Strategic Highway Safety Plan; skills in effective written and oral communications, interpreting and disseminating traffic engineering related data, use of personal computers; ability to collect, analyze and interpret engineering data, manage workload to produce on time resolutions to problems, establish and maintain effective working relationships, use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook).
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and two years of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience. An associate's degree can substitute for the required experience.
