ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Evaluate core real estate, non-core real estate and infrastructure managers, including developing financial models, evaluating diligence materials, engaging with experts/consultants and understanding company-specific research and analysis.
- Understand core real estate, non-core real estate and infrastructure managers' performance versus peer group and relative index/indices. This includes understanding the opportunity set and when certain sectors do well or underperform.
- Work with the Chief Investment Officer and investment staff, overseeing the State's $32 billion portfolio.
- Underwrite co-investment opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with peers and managers.
- Assist in identifying overall and portfolio-specific risk. Develop strategies to monitor and control risk.
- Prepare regular ad hoc performance/risk reports and present to boards.
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to those with a masters degree or a Ph.D, and/or a CFA.
Preference will be given to those with 5+ years of managing a portfolio with a certifiable track record of alpha production in the related field.
Knowledge
- Understanding global macro and micro risks that impact investments.
- Strong quantitative/analytical aptitude and modeling skills are required.
- Experience in sourcing and analyzing top quartile fund managers.
- Ability to work with unfamiliar concepts, take ownership of work and deliver timely results.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment utilizing strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Desire to work hard, learn and contribute to the team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance, Business, or Economics)
Experience
6+ years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance, Business, or Economics) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Investment Officer
