Role: Staff Accountant (Temporary)

Location: Washington D.C

Office Schedule: 3 days a week

Pay: $35 - $40/hour

Hiring Type: Contract (potential to convert)

Our client, a local Non-Profit, is looking for a Staff Accountant for an indefinite period. Great mission and culture.

Requirements

2+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a non-profit organization

Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field

Experience working with multiple bank and GL accounts

Strong GL experience required (minimum of 2 years)

Staff Accountant will assist in month-end close, preparation of financial statements, ensuring the integrity of internal reporting, and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes

Prepare financial statements and perform account reconciliations

Support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance

Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports

Handle payroll integrations and personnel cost accounting

Maintain accounting activity codes, structures, and reports; perform routine maintenance of general ledger accounts

Perform month-/year-end accounting tasks, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

Review open purchase orders

Support audit preparations and assist with regulatory filings, including Form 990 and other ad hoc projects
