Senior Mechanical Engineer
to join our national Power Generation team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the project mechanical team, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, monitor and communicate project status, and provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects in utility, IPP, industrial, and institutional sectors. Opportunities are available in multiple locations: Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland (OR & ME), Richmond, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, Syracuse. Responsibilities
Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other disciplines. Monitor project status and communicate progress to stakeholders. Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on technical and contractual levels. Develop deliverables including construction drawings, bid specifications, equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and cost estimates. Design and specify power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and RICE projects. Project roles may include lead mechanical engineer, project engineering manager, or project manager; work collaboratively with engineers and designers from multiple disciplines. Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university. Significant experience with utility-scale power generation systems and equipment; ability to plan, schedule, and lead design projects. Experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation; design experience and specification of power generation systems for these configurations; RICE experience preferred. Experience with a power engineering consulting or EPC firm is desirable. Ability to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs; strong communication and analytical skills. Travel less than 10% for client/vendor meetings and site visits. Proficient in meeting established schedules and budgets. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Minimum 10 years of experience Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit) Commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture What We Believe
