As a Principal Systems Engineer within Baxter's innovative software organization, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge healthcare solutions that enhance patient care and meet the evolving needs of our customers. Join us in our mission to create life-saving technologies, specifically within our Infusion Pump Platforms. In this dynamic position, you will be at the forefront of software development for both new products and sustaining activities within our Infusion Pump Portfolio. Your expertise will help shape the future of healthcare technology, ensuring that our products not only meet regulatory standards but also exceed customer expectations. What You'll Be Doing Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional team members, including Commercial and Clinical experts, to translate user needs into comprehensive system requirements. Lead Requirement Decomposition: Take charge of breaking down system requirements into detailed software subsystem requirements, ensuring clarity and precision in the development process. Conduct Risk Analysis: Spearhead risk analysis activities for software, from identifying inherent hazards to implementing effective mitigation strategies. Define Test Strategies: Partner with verification engineers to develop robust test strategies, creating verification and validation plans that utilize requirement tracing methods. Participate in Design Reviews: Engage in software design reviews for components or features, contributing your insights to enhance product quality. Solve Complex Problems: Develop and implement technical solutions to intricate challenges, delivering high-quality results even under tight deadlines. Agile Planning and Execution: Embrace agile methodologies in planning and execution, including estimating, scheduling, and ensuring the completion of committed timelines. Mentor and Enable Teams: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes and practices, providing technical mentorship to elevate team performance. Transform Requirements into Architecture: Interface with manufacturing, service, and customer training staff to ensure a seamless design transfer process, transforming software requirements into effective software test architecture. Ensure Compliance: Uphold compliance with the product development process and quality system, maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of your work. What You'll Bring Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, complemented by 5+ years of relevant experience. Electro-Mechanical Device Experience: Previous experience with electro-mechanical devices is preferred, providing you with a solid foundation for this role. Agile Development Experience: Proven experience in an agile environment, including the ability to create and maintain product backlogs effectively. Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, enabling you to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively. Regulated Industry Experience: Experience in a regulated industry is preferred, equipping you with the knowledge to navigate compliance requirements.
