Dispatcher
Under general supervision, answers all emergency and non-emergency calls for police. In addition to the call-taking function, serves as the dispatcher; responsible for the safety of police officers and professional staff (in the field), acting as their link to the resources they need, keeping track of their status and location, and coordinating the assignment of officers to new incidents. Conducts teletype functions, to include database entries, queries and miscellaneous administrative tasks. Staff are on the job 24 hours a day serving as the lifeline between the public and our first responders. Minimum Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must have good typing and computer skills. MUST
be available for 24 hour rotating shift work including weekends, holidays and emergency disaster. Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to, evaluation of education, training and experience; oral interview(s); background investigation; reference checks; medical evaluation; controlled substance screening.
