Recreation/Community Services Driver
The City of Ontario's Recreation & Community Services Department has an exciting opportunity for a Recreation/Community Services Driver. Under general supervision, the Recreation/Community Services Driver performs work in the operation of a vehicle to ensure the safe transportation of passengers to and from various destinations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about serving the community, has excellent problem solving and navigational skills and a keen sense of direction, including knowledge of mapping software. The successful incumbent with have experience in the operation of a passenger van or bus. Additionally, the successful candidate will embody the Department's mission and vision as well as the qualities of a "Five Tool Player" - Leader, Thinker, Communicator, Operator and Public Servant - and the values of the City's Approach to Public Service - Commitment to the Community, Excellence through Teamwork, and Doing the Right Thing the Right Way. This recruitment will result in an eligibility list, which will be used to fill full-time and part-time vacancies within this classification. If part-time opportunities arise, part-time employees may be scheduled to work up to 29 hours per week and are not eligible to participate in the City's health insurance or retirement plans. The current vacancies are for one (1) full-time Recreation and Community Services Driver and four (4) part-time Recreation and Community Services Driver Trainees. The City of Ontario's Community Life & Culture Agency endeavors to meet the Ontario City Council goal to "encourage, provide or support enhanced recreational, educational, cultural and healthy city programs, policies and activities." Community Life & Culture does this through a comprehensive array of programs, activities, services and events available through the Recreation & Community Services, Library and Museum Departments as well as the Arts & Culture program. The City of Ontario provides a full range of services to the community including: Police, Fire, Management Services, Community Life & Culture, Community Development, Public Works and the Ontario Municipal Utilities Company. The City's team is staffed with approximately 1,500 full-time and 300 part-time diverse and talented employees who work to support a common goal of providing excellent service to the community.
