The City of Santa Barbara is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher. This position offers a competitive salary range of $75,241 - $82,952 annually, with additional monthly benefits for EMD Certification. The responsibilities of this position include answering and processing emergency and non-emergency requests, operating a Computer Aided Dispatch system, and providing basic first aid during medical emergencies. The Combined Communications Center is a 24-hour facility where incumbents must be available to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Employment standards require the ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and operate a computer terminal. Desirable qualifications include experience as an emergency communications operator or similar position, completion of specific training courses, and bilingual skills. The selection process may include an oral interview, background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, medical examination, and controlled substances screening.
