Transportation Management Plan Coordinator

Performs highly responsible work in organizing and managing the operations and implementation of the City's Transportation Management Plan. An employee in this classification is responsible for initiating, researching, evaluating, coordinating and resolving transportation management issues within the City. Coordinating the Land-Use-Transportation models involving mobility, livability, accessibility, sustainability and procurement of funding for the planning, design and construction of transportation projects. Illustrative examples of essential duties include: Obtaining funding for Transportation Construction Projects by seeking grant opportunities and preparing applications for grants from various Federal, State and County agencies Planning, directing, and controlling assigned staff, schedules, workloads, resolving conflicts, assisting in the selection and evaluation of employees, providing training and administering disciplinary action, as required Coordinating traffic analysis for development/redevelopment projects submitted to the DRB, HPB, ZBA and PB for approval and providing reports and presentations to the different boards Reviewing and formulating appropriate mitigation improvement plans and agreements for impacted projects and developments Reviewing and recommending necessary Comprehensive Plan/EAR based amendments Developing plans and procedures for managing traffic congestion for ease of mobility in high volume areas of the City Preparing project budget, identifying sources of funding for appropriation and implementation Performing related work as required Minimum requirements include: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor Degree in traffic engineering or transportation planning Five (5) years experience in transportation management or planning Valid driver's license Obtain Florida driver's license prior to appointment and maintain throughout employment Physical requirements include: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, copier, and fax machine No significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling Must be able to drive an automobile and perform on-site inspections at locations which may not be accessible to the physically handicapped For all positions: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, coworkers, the press the general public and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation, gender identity or sexual orientation. Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of all city ethics and conflicts of interest policies. Strong understanding of ethical behavior is required. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Performs related work as required Reports to work as directed during an emergency as an essential employee of the City of Miami Beach For all technical, professional, supervisory and managerial positions: Ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to issues consistent with the City's strategic plan.
