Associate Analytical Lab Manager, Cell Engineering
Tesla is seeking an Analytical Lab Manager for Cell Engineering to lead a dedicated lab team in a dynamic, 24/7 operational environment. This role will oversee the testing of raw materials and in-process products to ensure compliance with defined standards, while providing technical leadership in method development and validation for both new and existing products. As a critical contributor to Teslas world-class manufacturing facilities, the Lab Manager will drive continuous improvement and collaborate across teams to enhance operational efficiency. Manage and lead a team of laboratory technicians in a 24/7 operation, ensuring effective scheduling, training, and performance management to uphold quality standards Oversee testing of raw materials and in-process products to confirm compliance with specifications, maintaining accurate records and reporting deviations promptly Design, validate, and implement new test methods to address quality issues or enhance process efficiency and accuracy Identify and lead initiatives for operational improvements, including equipment upgrades, process optimizations, and cost efficiencies Collaborate with lab managers at other sites to standardize processes and share insights for organization-wide improvements Ensure laboratory operations comply with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and company policies for a safe work environment Analyze test results, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science, or equivalent experience Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a quality or chemical analysis laboratory, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role, with expertise in physical materials analysis and quality controls Hands-on experience with materials analysis equipment such as powder rheometers, KF moisture analyzers, particle size analyzers, GC-(MS/FID), ICP-OES, acid-base titrators, SEM-EDS, DMA, DSC, TGA, and BET Detail-oriented with strong communication skills, able to work independently and collaboratively in a project-focused environment, and excel at repetitive tasks requiring high accuracy and precision Comfortable working with chemicals and hazardous materials in a laboratory setting Proficient in measurement system analysis (MSA), gage calibration, statistical data analysis, and data visualization tools like Tableau, JMP, or Minitab Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is highly desired Benefits and Compensation
