Overview
SDL is partnering with a reputable non-profit in Boston to add a Senior Accountant to their team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, assisting with monthly and annual closings, financial reporting, audits, and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong nonprofit accounting experience who thrives in a collaborative and mission-focused environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
Assist with the preparation of grant reports and funder financial statements
Support the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
Monitor and report on restricted and unrestricted funds
Collaborate with program and development teams to provide financial insights
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Identify process improvements and assist with system upgrades or implementations
Maintain internal controls and support finance policy updates as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance preferred
Nonprofit accounting experience highly preferred
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
