Overview The Bilingual Resource Program Coordinator II (Confidential Advocate) provides direct one-on-one advocacy support to students harmed by dating/relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking at Portland Community College (PCC) as part of Hope Services. The position will work with a small advocate and prevention team to ensure equitable access to advocacy services for all PCC students, and will collaborate with PCC staff and community partners to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive services and resources. In addition, the role will develop and facilitate outreach and training events for PCC students and partners on a variety of topics. The position will lead in serving Latin survivors by providing advocacy services aligned with culture and language, while remaining inclusive of all survivors.

More About Hope Services (previously Outreach & Advocacy Project). Hope Services is a small, survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy and prevention team at PCC rooted in racial and social justice.

Duties And Responsibilities

Provides confidential advocacy services to students experiencing dating/relationship violence, sexual assault, and stalking including safety planning, crisis intervention, emotional support, information and referral to college and community resources, and advocacy through internal (Title IX) and external (criminal) complaint and remedy procedures, rooted in trauma-informed and survivor-centered philosophies.

Provides Spanish-language confidential and culturally specific advocacy as appropriate.

With the Hope team, coordinates training and support needs for college-wide peer education student leaders related to dating/relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking, rooted in social justice.

Assists with development and facilitation of marketing and outreach campaigns—website updates, informational handouts, posters, events, and tabling—with emphasis on culturally and linguistically relevant information to improve outreach and services for underserved populations.

Collects and enters data in support of project evaluation and grant reporting requirements.

Participates in college committees/work groups related to policies and procedures that impact survivors (e.g., Title IX, care and conduct interventions, public safety).

Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners and relevant agencies to provide culturally responsive information, appropriate referrals, and seamless survivor support.

Assists with coordinating and providing training for multiple college stakeholders to improve trauma-informed and positive response/advocacy for survivors.

Maintains an office on the Cascade campus with travel to other PCC campuses based on student need; travel between campuses eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Supports Program Director to fulfill programmatic activities and objectives.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Success Criteria

Experience providing bilingual, confidential, and culturally specific support services to diverse individuals who have experienced trauma, including people of color, immigrants/refugees, and those with disabilities, including LGBTQ+ identities.

Demonstrated experience responding to crises using trauma-informed and person-centered practices.

Experience providing culturally specific outreach and coordination of activities and the ability to effectively communicate to large groups.

Demonstrated commitment to racial and social justice.

Additional Experience For the purpose of this position, experience coordinating services includes scheduling or coordinating advocacy appointments, coordinating safety planning and crisis support, facilitating training and outreach events, developing outreach materials, and collaborating with community partners to improve access and support.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Arts, Multicultural Studies, Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, Social Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. If you do not have a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Two years of experience in a diverse setting coordinating services or programs, including one year serving the population in the area of assignment.

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.

Salary and Eligibility Minimum $66,831 to midpoint $69,171. Placement typically won’t exceed the midpoint based on qualifications and experience.
