Accompany Doula Care is a Massachusetts-based nonprofit (501c3) doula collective working to integrate doula support into healthcare systems to increase access for families who otherwise face barriers to doula support. They work with contracts with healthcare institutions serving MassHealth/Medicaid-eligible clients, and doula services are provided at no cost to families. They do not currently take private or self-pay doula clients. About the Executive Director Job
The Executive Director will support the growth and sustainability of the organization, reporting to the Board of Directors. Since its founding in 2017, Accompany has achieved paid contracts with MA healthcare payers, a voice in doula policy and advocacy, and leadership in doula-related research studies. The ED will take the organization to the next stage of development to become more sustainable and growth-oriented. Key Responsibilities
Develop a fundraising strategy (including annual goals) and engage in fundraising activities in partnership with the Board, staff, and external resources; steward opportunities for support through local foundations, public funders, and individual donors; serve as Accompany’s primary professional fundraiser and strategic relationship manager. In cooperation with the Board and Leadership Team, ensure the organization’s fiscal integrity; develop and monitor the annual budget; negotiate and secure annual doula service contracts and amendments to existing contracts; expand into new contracts and revenue opportunities. Represent Accompany effectively internally and externally, becoming a respected thought partner in the maternal health arena. Strategic Planning
Lead the strategic planning process with the Board and potential consultants to support the organization’s short- and long-term strategic vision and set annual goals; communicate the vision and strategy to internal and external stakeholders; represent Accompany in maternal health policy and advocacy discussions. Leadership & Team Management
Foster a human-centric, collaborative and inclusive team culture across the administrative and doula teams; optimize organizational design and hiring capacity as needed. Develop and implement fundraising strategies and other priorities in collaboration with the Board, staff and external resources; balance input with decisive action in the organization’s best interest. The above summarizes the primary responsibilities of the Executive Director role; as a small, entrepreneurial organization, additional duties may be assigned. Required Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of nonprofit or public sector senior leadership experience, ideally at a growth-oriented organization. Strong leadership with strategic relationship management, project management, cross-departmental leadership, clear communication and presentation skills; proactive, organized, and analytical thinker. Passion for maternal health, public health, reproductive health, women’s health, women’s rights, gender equality, or social justice is strongly preferred. Deep understanding of organizational management and strategic planning; experience managing budgets of at least $500K. Based in Massachusetts and willing to work virtually with periodic in-person meetings across the state; occasional evenings, weekends, and travel across MA and nationally may be required. Entrepreneurial spirit with experience creating new programs/initiatives and/or helping to grow a nonprofit or public sector organization. Track record of setting strategic goals and aligning resources, human capital, and organizational structures to achieve outcomes. Experience supporting and managing diverse teams with commitment to racial justice and equity; dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competency. Experience developing and executing diverse fundraising strategies and building the infrastructure to support organizational sustainability. Experience working with and/or reporting to a nonprofit Board of Directors to provide strategic input and steward financial resources. Ability to make decisions in collaboration with key stakeholders and manage change processes. A can-do, ?if we can dream it we can do it? attitude to propel Accompany Doula Care forward. Additional Information
The salary range for the Executive Director is $95,000-$105,000 annually, plus health and dental insurance and paid time off.
