Overview

We are seeking a motivated

Junior Database Engineer

with 13 years of hands-on experience in SQL development, database fundamentals, and ETL processes. The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL Server, and a foundational understanding of cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, EC2, Redshift). This role provides an opportunity to work closely with senior database engineers, support database design and optimization, and contribute to data integration and automation initiatives. Key Responsibilities

Database Design & Development

Assist with

schema design, data modeling, and database object development

(stored procedures, functions, triggers). Build and maintain

ETL processes and data pipelines

using SQL, Python, or AWS ETL tools (Glue, Step Functions, Lambda). Support implementation of

database automation tools

and

CI/CD processes

for data solutions. Create and maintain

technical documentation

for database solutions. Performance & Optimization

Assist with

query tuning, indexing strategies, and partitioning

under DBA guidance. Support

performance testing, monitoring, and reporting dashboards . Data Management

Support

database migration, upgrade, and backup/recovery activities . Assist with

data quality validation, archiving, and retention processes . Contribute to

metadata documentation and data cataloging efforts . Security & Compliance

Implement

database security controls

following established policies. Assist with

FISMA compliance documentation and audit preparation . Support

data masking and encryption initiatives . Work with

PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and AWS-hosted databases

(RDS, EC2, Redshift). Collaborate with developers and business users on

database best practices and requirements gathering . Participate in

technical reviews and learning sessions . Required Qualifications

13 years

of SQL development experience. Hands-on experience with

PostgreSQL and SQL Server

(required). Basic knowledge of

database design principles, normalization, and data modeling . Experience developing

stored procedures, functions, and triggers . Familiarity with

query optimization and indexing concepts . Experience building

ETL processes/data pipelines

using SQL, Python, or AWS tools (Glue, Step Functions, Lambda). Exposure to

AWS RDS, EC2, and Redshift

for database workloads. Basic understanding of

Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and data management concepts . Preferred Qualifications

Experience with

Amazon Redshift

for data warehousing. Exposure to

data transformation, validation techniques, and data cataloging tools . Work Authorization

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders. Seniority level
