Responsibilities Job Summary The Physician Assistant- Critical Care works collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide age-appropriate care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic diseases. The role requires a high level of autonomy, leadership, and the ability to work independently. The PA will demonstrate leadership as a mentor, educator, researcher, and provider, and can act as a first assist in their specialty. Essential Functions Provides advanced care for patients with acute conditions, assists surgeons during procedures, participates in discharge planning, and counsels on post-operative care. Performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, collaborates with physicians, and ensures smooth transitions of care. Provides coaching, guidance, and leadership to staff, supports research and quality improvement projects, and promotes ethical decision-making and performance improvement. Education Bachelor's Degree, National Certification as Physician Assistant, AZ State Licensure, and graduation from an accredited PA program are required. Experience 3 years as a Physician Assistant in the designated specialty is required; 1 year First Assist experience is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is also preferred. Licenses and Certifications ACLS Certification, DEA License, Arizona Physician Assistant Licensure, and National Certification as a Physician Assistant are required. Additional preferred certifications include CSFA and Fingerprint Clearance Card.
