Essential Job Duties This overall function of this position is to utilize a standard cleaning assignment to clean and sanitize an area of responsibility within a building. The position is also responsible for reporting discrepancies found within the building in addition to responding to emergencies and inclement weather. The position will use standard housekeeping equipment, tools, and supplies to accomplish assigned tasks including, but not limited to:

Vacuuming Mopping Scrubbing Dusting Disinfecting Replenishing Remove recycling from centralized indoor recycling sites

Other Responsibilities

Perform snow and ice removal within a team environment during inclement weather, in addition to coordinating with coworkers during group response to emergencies. Perform team cleaning tasks and projects during breaks, and when space is accessible. May be required to periodically strip and refinish floors, as well as shampoo and extract carpets. Periodic pressure washing of entrances, exterior walls, and windows may be required. Seasonal window washing may be required. May be required to fill in for absenteeism outside of assigned area. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Experience/Education Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

Other Required Qualifications

Must be able to lift 30 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally, with or without a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to grasp, push and pull cleaning equipment. Must be able to reach to perform cleaning duties above shoulders. Job requires frequent bending and squatting. Must be able to climb and balance on a ladder up to 8ft. Must be able to distinguish between colors. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and the general public. Must be able to follow instructions and other communications regarding assignments and other matters. Experience performing housekeeping duties.

Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university or commercial environment.
