Essential Job Duties We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented

Carpenter

to join our Carpentry Shop. In this role, you will

perform renovations, installations, and alterations

to existing structures, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship in every project. The ideal candidate will have expertise in drywall, ceiling systems, flooring, cabinetry, and general carpentry work, along with a strong understanding of materials, blueprints, and safety protocols.

Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: Install and finish

drywall, ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, and countertops. Perform trim work, hang doors, install door hardware, and set windows. Modify and renovate

spaces by removing walls, installing partitions, and altering room layouts. Utilize hand and power tools to complete structural modifications and enhancements. Read and interpret blueprints

to ensure accurate installations and renovations. Identify and address facility-related issues associated with space reconfiguration. Collaborate with project managers

to develop solutions for construction challenges. Ensure adherence to safety standards, material specifications, and quality control procedures. Apply

knowledge of at least one additional trade

while maintaining a general understanding of others.

Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Experience/Education High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Other Required Qualifications

Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public, both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions related to all trade issues in an institutional setting. Working knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the carpentry trade. The primary functions of the position require the ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds frequently and up to 90 pounds occasionally, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience renovating building spaces in a university setting, including installing and finishing drywall, ceiling systems, flooring, cabinetry, and countertops. Required License or Certification

Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire and it must be maintained.
