Overview Responsible for leading our in-house Riding Team initiatives and overseeing the performance of all associated Technical Supervisors. This role plays a critical leadership function within the Technical Operations department, driving efficiency, quality, and compliance across a wide range of vessel projects - including marine, hotel, and technical outfitting workstreams.

Responsibilities

Lead and support a team of Technical Supervisors responsible for overseeing Riding Team operations in marine, hotel, electrical, HVAC, and technical domains.

Ensure all Riding Teams are deployed efficiently, with appropriate training, tools, and schedules in place to meet operational and budgetary goals.

Serve as the primary escalation point for macro-level project challenges, scheduling conflicts, or resourcing gaps across the fleet.

Collaborate with the Fleet Senior Director, Director of Continuous Improvement, Admin Manager, Coordinator, Technical Superintendents, shipboard teams, and other departments to define high-level project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.

Standardize reporting and performance tracking across all Riding Teams, driving continuous improvement and alignment with company technical standards.

Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across all work activities.

Oversee training and development programs for supervisors and team members, ensuring capabilities align with technical demands and growth goals.

Provide regular status updates, project metrics, and strategic input to senior Technical Operations leadership.

Travel to dry docks as needed.

Support long-term workforce planning, including budgeting, recruitment strategies, and succession planning for Riding Team functions.

Ensure adherence to international maritime regulations, classification society standards, and company policies.

Qualifications

DEGREE TYPE:

Bachelor's Degree

FIELD(S) OF STUDY:

Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related technical field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in technical operations or marine maintenance, preferably within the cruise or maritime industry.

Proven leadership experience managing technical teams, including supervisory-level personnel.

Experience implementing or scaling technical workforce programs (e.g., Riding Teams, in-house maintenance programs).

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

Strong knowledge of deck and maritime systems, structural maintenance, marine outfitting, and drydock/during-service work scopes.

Familiar with international regulations including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and classification society rules (e.g., DNV, Lloyd's Register).

Excellent project management and strategic planning skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and maintenance tracking/reporting software (e.g., AMOS, NS5).

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments and vessel teams.

Familiarity with drydock planning, hotel refits, and voyage repair operations.
