is a Boston-based technology company with expertise in advanced, large-scale and high-performance photonic and electronic application-specific integrated circuits. We use our proprietary silicon photonic platform to serve the automotive lidar and data communications markets with innovative, chip-scale solutions. Analog Photonics has developed a portfolio of state-of-the-art silicon photonics-based designs including the world's best optical phased arrays. Our designs are fabricated in a 300mm CMOS foundry using a proprietary photonics platform that is optimized for low cost, high reliability, and high yield.

Overview We’re seeking experienced hardware design engineers for our automotive LiDAR business area. As a Principal Hardware Engineer, you will be in a leadership role and responsible for capturing electrical requirements, designing/testing complex mixed-signal PCBs, mentoring junior engineers, and interfacing with engineers in other disciplines to develop the system.

The candidate brings technical experience in digital design, analog design, low-noise design, experience with FPGAs, experience in controls, and some knowledge of electro-optics or photonics. This person is also an effective communicator, keeps an open mind, and is interested in both learning from and teaching colleagues who are experts in their field.

Responsibilities

Capture electrical requirements

Design and test complex mixed-signal PCBs

Mentor junior engineers

Interface with engineers in other disciplines to develop the system

Qualifications

Design and test of low-noise circuits

Experience with high-speed ADCs and DACs

Experience with FPGAs

Basic knowledge of control systems

Managing manufacturing and production of boards and modules

Experience designing complex systems despite risk and uncertainty

Required Qualifications

Strong hands-on engineering and prototyping skills

Schematic capture and layout of analog, mixed signal and high-speed designs (Altium preferred)

Comfortable identifying and choosing ICs as well as guiding architecture decisions

Knowledge of SPICE, Matlab or other simulation programs

BS Electrical Engineering 9+ years / MS Electrical Engineering 7+ years’ experience in industry

The ideal candidate will have experiences in several of these areas

Mixed signal PCB design

Electro-optic systems, especially LiDAR

Digital communication protocols, such as USB, Ethernet, RGMII/SGMII, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.

Designing for and debugging FPGAs, especially Xilinx devices

Digital signal processing

The position is full-time, on-site, and available to be filled immediately. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
