Analog Photonics
Analog Photonics is a Boston-based technology company with expertise in advanced, large-scale and high-performance photonic and electronic application-specific integrated circuits. We use our proprietary silicon photonic platform to serve the automotive lidar and data communications markets with innovative, chip-scale solutions. Analog Photonics has developed a portfolio of state-of-the-art silicon photonics-based designs including the world's best optical phased arrays. Our designs are fabricated in a 300mm CMOS foundry using a proprietary photonics platform that is optimized for low cost, high reliability, and high yield.
The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role. Overview We’re seeking a self-starting hardware design engineer for our automotive LiDAR business area. As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for capturing electrical requirements, designing/testing complex mixed-signal PCBs, mentoring junior engineers, and interfacing with engineers in other disciplines to develop the system.
The candidate brings technical experience in digital design, analog design, low-noise design, experience with FPGAs, experience in controls, and some knowledge of electro-optics or photonics. This person is also an effective communicator, keeps an open mind, and is interested in both learning from and teaching colleagues who are experts in their field.
Join our team if you are:
interested in working in a fast-growing early-stage startup
enthusiastic about working on disruptive silicon photonics to shape the automotive LiDAR space
a team player who thrives working in a dynamic environment
Skill Requirements
Design and test of low-noise circuits
Experience with high-speed ADCs and DACs
Experience with FPGAs
Basic knowledge of control systems
Managing manufacturing and production of boards and modules
Experience designing complex systems despite risk and uncertainty
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on engineering and prototyping skills
Schematic capture and layout of analog, mixed signal and high-speed designs (Altium preferred)
Comfortable identifying and choosing ICs as well as guiding architecture decisions
Knowledge of SPICE, Matlab or other simulation programs
BS Electrical Engineering 7+ years / MS Electrical Engineering 5+ years’ experience
The ideal candidate will have experiences in several of these areas
