Overview

Research Associate (Health Services Research/Epidemiology) at UNSW. This is a full-time (35 hours per week), 1-year fixed-term contract based at Randwick Clinical Campus, Sydney NSW. Remuneration is Level C $91k–$121k base per year, plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; candidates must have full rights to work in Australia. Responsibilities

Provide statistical and epidemiological support for intervention-based studies and grant applications. Conduct research activities including surveys, literature reviews, data collection and recording results using appropriate research methods under the guidance of a research leader. Support dissemination of research outcomes through suitable channels, and present at conferences and/or workshops. Work within the Population Child Health research group, School of Clinical Medicine UNSW; collaborate to improve the health, wellbeing and development of children and young people locally, nationally and internationally. Reporting line: reports directly to the Head of the Population Child Health research group; has no direct reports. Qualifications and Skills

A PhD in Epidemiology/Statistics or related discipline, and/or an appropriate level of expertise gained from experience, training and/or professional accreditation. Competency in statistical software (R, SAS and/or Stata) with experience working with large data sets. Experience in the design and evaluation of trials is beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines; ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality academic research (study design and implementation, grant writing, ethics applications) and to conduct independent research with limited supervision; ability to manage priorities and attention to detail. Commitment to staying up to date with discipline knowledge and developments; track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity. Understanding of UNSW aims, objectives and values, and related policies and guidelines. Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant training.
