Hourly Rate: $80-$100/hr

Duration: 3 months minimum, could easily be 6+ months

Company: A leading institutional real estate investment platform with a national footprint is seeking an experienced interim accounting leader to support its corporate-level entities. The company manages a diverse portfolio of properties within its investment funds and is navigating a high-growth, fast-paced phase, including integration activities and team transitions. This is an opportunity to work with a high-caliber executive team in a dynamic, change-driven environment.

Purpose Of Your Position: The Interim Accounting Consultant will be responsible for corporate accounting and reporting for upper-tier investment entities, including fund-level LLPs and related partnerships. This hands-on role will ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial close processes, manage complex intercompany activities, and provide technical accounting support during a period of organizational change.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end close for corporate entities, including journal entries, trial balance reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and ensure proper elimination entries across related entities.
  • Review and validate internal fee calculations for management, leasing, and construction.
  • Prepare interest income accruals and monitor compliance with loan covenants.
  • Coordinate loan activity reporting and support the preparation of quarterly lender reporting packages.
  • Process loan escrow reserve fund disbursement requests and track associated balances.
  • Liaise with operating partners to gather, review, and reconcile financial statements and tax deliverables.
  • Assist with budget and forecast preparation related to interest expense and income.
  • Prepare property roll forward schedules and other ad hoc reports as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a real estate investment, REIT, or fund accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and partnership/fund-specific accounting principles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex intercompany activities and multi-entity consolidations.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and adaptable to evolving priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar real estate accounting systems preferred.
