American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position specializing in Ortho, Neuro, and Surgical stepdown care with required Epic experience.Job Details•Position is in the Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) unit with mixed acuity including Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg patients,•Unit has 64 beds spread across two floors,•Patient population includes ortho trauma, surgical, neuro/spine, and general medical cases such as urology, joint replacements, brain injuries, and more,•RN to patient ratio is 1:4; CNA ratio is 1:8,•Uses Epic EMR system-Epic experience is required,•Shifts are 12-hour nights with scheduling on a 6-week rotation,•Travelers may be scheduled for up to 4 of 6 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday),•Floating required to adult inpatient areas such as Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, and Observation within scope of practice,•Two days of unit/department orientation and two preceptor shifts provided,Job Requirements•Active RN license from the South Dakota Board of Nursing or Compact state,•Completion of an approved nursing education program,•Minimum 1 year of intermediate/stepdown level RN experience required,•Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,•Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers,•Comfort with MedSurg assignments and caring for mixed-acuity stepdown and neuro patients,•Proficiency in reading/interpreting cardiac strips, trach care (no fresh traches), NGT tube care, PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV management, wound care, medication administration, and blood product transfusions,•Drip titration skills for Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), and similar antihypertensives,•Candidates must reside at least 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility,•Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler,Additional Information•Unit uses a pod structure (8 patients per pod) staffed with 2 RNs and 1 Nurse Aide,•Charge nurses have no patient load and support is available from Flex Nurse, Nurse Clinicians, RT, and hospitalist providers,•First-time travelers are welcome if they meet experience and Epic requirements,•Navy blue scrubs required,•Free parking provided,•Monthly audits require 90% compliance for pre/post pain scoring,•Holiday time off (RTO) must be requested prior to offer; holiday RTO is not currently being approved,•Time off is limited to 1.5 weeks and may require extending the contract,•No approvals for time off during annual event blackout dates (early August),•No mandatory on-call; extra shifts may have optional call if staffing allows,•Education and resources provided for those without previous post neuro-intervention patient experience,•The facility is known for being supportive and welcoming to travelers,),•hash,:• ,
