American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring position with Level 1 Trauma and telemetry experience required.Job Details•Work in a hospital-based Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit with a trauma level 1 designation,•Unit includes 48 beds, with 10 epilepsy specialty rooms, and primarily serves epilepsy, neurosurgery, and acute neuro patients,•Typical patient diagnoses include epilepsy, 24-48 hour trend EEG monitoring, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, TBI, and other neurological conditions,•Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 for both days and nights,•Shift is 12-hour nights from 7pm to 7am,•Weekend requirement is 3 shifts within a 4-week period with self-scheduling available,•Holiday rotation includes working 2 out of 4 holidays,•Floating may be required to Med/Surg or Telemetry units,•Use of Cerner as the EMR system,•Vents used are Bipap; managed by Respiratory Therapy,•Charge nurse and resource RN available on all shifts, with PCTs supporting the unit,•24/7 RT and pharmacy support,Job Requirements•Active RN license (state or compact) is required,•Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience, including Level 1 trauma and telemetry,•Current certifications in BLS and ACLS,•Successful completion of a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed),•Pass/Fail SIMs Lab on day 1 covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change with strict sterile technique,•BSN and Med/Surg/Tele certification are preferred,•Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (DL used to verify address),•Strong critical thinking and neuro assessment skills are required,•References required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years,•Candidates must not have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year,Additional Information•RNs are responsible for managing epilepsy and acute neuro patients, conducting neurological assessments including cranial nerves, and monitoring for subtle changes in condition,•Orientation includes 12 hours plus two additional floor-specific shifts,•Utilize self-releasing velcro seat belts as part of safety protocols,•Must be competent in maintaining sterile field; failing the SIMs lab results in immediate ineligibility,•Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing and natural hair color with no facial piercings are required,•Scrub color is limited to Greys Anatomy/steel,•The unit is supported by a dedicated IV team for difficult sticks,),•hash,:• ,
