American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Stepdown unit position caring for cardiac and post-surgical patients, with night shifts and advanced cardiac skills required.Job Details•Position is based in a hospital acute care Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a stepdown patient population,•Handles patients undergoing cardiovascular and surgical services, including those from the cath lab and post open-heart surgery,•Unit has 14 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4 based on acuity,•Equipment used includes Philips Cardiac Monitors, telemetry, Welch Allyn monitors, Medtronic pacemakers, Pyxis medication system, Zoll defibrillators, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Cerner EMR,•12-hour night shifts required, with two weekend shifts per pay period,•Float to ICU preferred and float to Med-Surg/Telemetry required,•First to float among staff/contractors,Job Requirements•Active and in-good-standing RN license for AZ or compact (NLC); pending licenses are not accepted,•Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/stepdown experience required,•Certifications required: ACLS and BLS (must be active at the time of consideration),•EKG interpretation skills and IV cardiac medication administration experience required,•Proficiency with Cerner EMR required,•Experience with peritoneal dialysis, chronic vents, chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, and arterial/venous sheath care required,•Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing,•Must not have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year as FT, PT, or PRN employee,•Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility,Additional Information•Responsibilities include caring for acute patients post cardiac and surgical interventions, including open-heart, STEMI, NSTEMI, and patients with thoracotomies, renal disease, alcohol withdrawal, or suicidal ideation,•Fast-paced environment serving critical care needs under hospitalist direction,•Must wear navy scrubs and maintain business-appropriate hair color,•Testing on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes occurs during orientation,•Failure to pass exam requirements results in a temporary ineligibility for employment,•Orientation includes exposure to cardiac surgery patient pathways and critical care protocols,•Two professional references required, including one supervisor from the past 12 months,•Drivers license copy and active certifications must be provided for consideration,),•hash,:• ,
