About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to be a pivotal financial leader in the firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the company's accounting strategy and operations across a diverse portfolio of real estate assets, including residential, commercial, and student housing. This role involves overseeing multi-entity accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability, and driving continuous improvement. The VP of Accounting will also lead the transition to GAAP-compliant accounting, establish and enforce accounting policies and internal controls, and manage all aspects of corporate accounting, including financial statement production, tax compliance, and cash management strategy.
Applicants for the Vice President of Accounting position at the company should have a CPA, a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and a minimum of 7 years' of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years' in a leadership role. A background in public accounting, particularly with Big 4 or regional firms, is strongly preferred. The role requires a candidate with a strong knowledge of US GAAP, consolidations, and intercompany accounting, as well as experience in the real estate industry, particularly in investment, development, or property management accounting. Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel is essential, and experience with real estate accounting platforms is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading and developing accounting teams, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities. A high sense of ownership, urgency, and attention to detail, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and accountable culture, is also required.
