Plastics Supply Chain Specialist
Responsible for the purchasing, planning, and overall supply chain management for raw plastic components used to manufacture high-volume disposable blood diagnostic cartridges for point-of-care diagnostics. Execute the supply planning from a fleet of injection molds by applying knowledge and understanding of plastic injection molding. Comfortable managing portfolios with annual spend of over $25 million dollars. Oversee multiple stock keeping units (SKUs) across various suppliers to drive the material requirements planning (MRP) of over 150 million plastic components. Develop and deploy capacity models to identify present and future capacity constraints and drive capital procurement/replacement projects. Use statistical analyses to predict mold yields, efficiencies, uptimes, etc, to generate accurate forecasting models. Collaborate with engineering to uncover pinch points within the supply chain and kick-start multi-million-dollar capital replacement projects. Lead supplier meetings through the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) platform to ensure cross-functional alignment with organizational expectations. Serve as a supply chain liaison between the company and the various suppliers. Drive new tooling qualification timelines from a supply outlook and provide guidance for all activities including audits. Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and drive the Return of Material (RMA) process. Analyze material usage history and forecasts to implement safety stock levels. Resolve and document purchase order discrepancies such as non-conformances, shortages, or price discrepancies with suppliers. Develop and/or update procedures referencing material planning and procurement of raw materials on a quarterly basis. Establish purchasing attributes for materials, including buyer codes, safety stock, lead-time, minimum/maximum inventory levels, lot sizes, Reorder Points (ROPs), and ABC classifications. Responsible for managing portfolio inventory cash flow target, balancing stock levels, supply risks and purchase price variance (PPV) to generate the best financial outcomes for portfolios with $25 million dollars or more in annual spending. Responsible for cost optimization analysis and planning to ensure efficient management of high volume and cost to ensure annual revenue targets are achieved. Advance skills in applications including but not limited to Power BI, MRP systems, QAD, TrackSuite, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Excel for supply planning and developing forecasting models.
Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering or in a related field of study with at least 4 years of professional experience in a regulated manufacturing environment. Must possess experience in: (i) establishing purchasing attributes for materials, including buyer codes, safety stock, lead-time, minimum/maximum levels, lot size, Reorder Point (ROP), and ABC classifications; (ii) managing portfolio inventory cash flow target, balancing stock level, supply risks and Purchase Price Variance (PPV) to generate the best financial outcomes for portfolios with $25 million dollars or more in annual spending; (iii) developing and/or updating procedures referencing material planning and procurement of raw materials on a quarterly basis; (iv) applying knowledge and understanding of plastics injection molding; (v) using statistical analyses to predict mold yields, efficiencies, uptimes, etc. to generate accurate forecasting models; and (vi) Power BI, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, QAD, TrackSuite, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Excel for supply planning and developing forecasting models.
