This position is responsible for monitoring, communicating, and coordinating essential information to support daily Marshals Division operations and to help maintain the safety and security of staff and the public within the Regional Justice Center and Family Court facilities. The Court Operations Dispatcher serves as the first point of contact for both emergency and non-emergency calls for service within court facilities and operates under the general supervision of higher-level supervisory and management staff.This role requires knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, law enforcement and security dispatch codes, the layout and areas of all assigned facilities, and operations and emergency response protocols, two way radio communications, computer aided dispatch software, surveillance, alarm, and badge access systems. Candidates should also be familiar with relevant computer applications for word processing, data entry, report generation, database management, and spreadsheets. A solid understanding of business arithmetic, applicable laws and regulations, office administrative practices, standard business correspondence formats, and proper grammar and punctuation is essential. Knowledge of proper recordkeeping methods and the ability to interact professionally with the public, both in person and over the phone, are also important.The position requires skill in performing specialized and sometimes complex administrative tasks, reading and explaining policies and procedures, analyzing and resolving office-related issues, organizing and maintaining records, composing correspondence independently, and preparing periodic and special reports. Candidates should be capable of using independent judgment within established procedural guidelines, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and contributing effectively to team goals. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships are essential. For certain assignments, typing and transcription skills may also be required.Experience in court operations or law enforcement dispatching, badging, and access control is highly desirable.This examination will establish an eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the District Court Human Resources. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school, AND two (2) years of full-time general clerical, customer service, or office assistant experience, one (1) year of which must be in a dispatch or surveillance capacity. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to one (1) year.Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.License/Certification: Specified positions may be required to possess a valid Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment.Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. EXAMPLES OF DUTIESResponsible for all emergency and non- emergency communications to include 2-way radio communications with both the District Court Deputy Marshal staff and Justice Court Marshal staff.Monitors and operates the surveillance systems, monitors alarm systems and access control.Maintains safety and security by operating electronic equipment and consoles to monitor and direct Marshal staff.Coordinates Marshal response to law enforcement, security, and medical calls for service, to include emergencies and critical incidents.Monitors emergency response and movement of emergency personnel throughout the facility.Monitors and controls access to the restricted parking area and other controlled secure areas in the facility.Answers phone calls related to crimes in progress and critical incidents that require the collection of pertinent information to coordinate and ensure a proper emergency response.Maintains a dispatch log recording Marshal staff assignment, incident description, response, and disposition. Performs a variety of recordkeeping, filing, and other general clerical work to include computer data entry, data collection, and statistical reports.Required to obtain and maintain NCIC-SCOPE terminal operator certification and performs criminal records, wants, and warrant checks.May drive a personal or County motor vehicle. PHYSICAL DEMANDSMobility to work in a communications setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and multiple computer screens, and hearing and speech to communicate in English in person or over the telephone and the radio. Ability to perform data entry with a keyboard.
