CITY OF PHOENIX ARIZONA The City of Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a strategic and collaborative finance executive to serve in the newly created role of Finance Director. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Finance Director provides strategic oversight for key departmental priorities such as citywide accounting, financial reporting, and compliance oversight for grants, bonds and taxes. The portfolio of this role is somewhat flexible to the business needs as well as the strengths of the selected candidate, and the creation of the role is intended to ensure a smooth succession plan and leadership continuity in the Department. The Finance Director will oversee staff through Deputy and Assistant Finance Directors and will prioritize ongoing training and development within their teams and provide strategic leadership to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability, while driving operational excellence, enhancing customer service, and fostering cross-departmental collaboration. The ideal candidate is a confident, relationship-oriented leader with exceptional technical expertise, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire trust, build consensus, and deliver sound financial stewardship for one of the nation’s largest and most dynamic cities. Salary and Benefits
