Overview The Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) seeks an experienced and resourceful professional to serve as its
Program Administrator – Classification & Compensation , a pivotal role responsible for all aspects of the District’s job classification and compensation administration programs. This position functions as Valley Water’s primary subject‑matter expert and a highly efficient team of one, bringing strong compensation expertise in particular, and experience working in public‑sector or highly unionized environments. The Program Administrator provides critical analytical support and expert guidance to executives, HR leaders, and bargaining partners; ensures the accuracy, consistency, and equity of all classifications; leads major annual efforts such as the Unified Salary Report; and navigates complex labor, organizational, and political dynamics with diplomacy, judgment, and professionalism. Responsibilities & Qualifications • Serve as the District’s primary subject‑matter expert for classification and compensation administration. • Provide analytical support and expert guidance to executives, HR leaders, and bargaining partners. • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and equity of all classifications. • Lead major annual efforts such as the Unified Salary Report. • Navigate complex labor, organizational, and political dynamics with diplomacy, judgment, and professionalism. • Demonstrate strong compensation expertise and experience in public‑sector or highly unionized environments.
Base Pay Range $141,315.00/yr - $180,960.00/yr
Salary and Benefits Annual salary of $141,315 – $180,960 DOE/DOQ, plus a 5% MMBA confidential pay differential and an attractive benefits package.
