Overview We are seeking a highly capable and hands-on Controller to manage all accounting and financial functions for our growing distribution business. This role blends strategic financial leadership with day-to-day transactional oversight to maintain fiscal health, accurate reporting, and sound compliance. Success will be measured by accuracy, timeliness, and the ability to provide clear financial insights that drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and ensure timely month-end close.

Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts.

Accounting Operations

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.

Manage bank reconciliations and maintain strong internal controls.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax reporting requirements.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts in coordination with management.

Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Cash Flow & Inventory Management

Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure operational stability.

Work closely with operations to reconcile and value inventory accurately.

Leadership & Compliance

Manage staff in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and collections.

Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

Partner with external auditors, banks, and tax advisors.

Support executive management with financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Acumatica, NetSuite, Sage) and MS Excel.

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.

Small office setting with cross-functional teamwork across operations, sales, and management.

Hybrid schedule, reporting to Bridgeport, CT 4 days per work week.
