Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join their growing CPA firm in Baltimore. Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Compliance
Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates
Handle Form 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 990, and related schedules
Ensure accurate and timely completion of returns in compliance with current tax laws and regulations
Research complex tax issues using professional tax research tools (RIA, CCH, BNA)
Respond to IRS and state tax notices and represent clients during examinations
Client Service & Communication
Serve as primary contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationships
Conduct client meetings to discuss tax planning strategies and compliance matters
Provide proactive tax planning advice to minimize clients' tax liabilities
Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients with varying levels of financial sophistication
Team Leadership & Development
Review work prepared by staff and senior associates, providing constructive feedback
Mentor junior team members and assist in their professional development
Collaborate with partners and managers on client strategy and business development initiatives
Participate in training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions
Practice Management
Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
Assist with business development activities and proposal preparation
Stay current with tax law changes and communicate updates to team and clients
Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 4-6 years of public accounting experience with focus on tax services
CPA license required (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
Technical Skills
Proficiency in tax preparation software (Ultra Tax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte, or similar)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
Experience with tax research databases
Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations
Professional Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Leadership experience and mentoring capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Taxation or related field
Experience with high-net-worth individual taxation
Knowledge of multi-state tax issues
Experience with estate and gift tax planning
Familiarity with tax technology and workflow management systems
