The Senior Project Engineer II manages all phases of engineering projects and developing innovative solutionsfrom concept through design to execution. This role is accountable to provide expertise to staff and can be relied upon to make recommendations for technical and design solutions. Job Responsibilities Lead efforts on key projects as lead engineer responsible for the overall vision, quality and implementation. Partner with leadership to vision, plan and implement strategic initiatives, quality requirements and policy. Provide leadership and guidance for staff on project assignments. Manage and perform system design, including calculations, equipment selection, layout, and drawing preparation. Lead and contribute to overall engineering analysis and solutions. Plan and conduct evaluation and site observation. Perform Quality Control for projects by reviewing project documents, specifications, and design options; ensure code compliance through meetings and reviews. Make recommendations based on findings. Apply standard engineering practices and software tools to produce high-quality deliverables. Conduct site investigations and technical research to support design decisions. Evaluate and mitigate project risk. Build and develop internal and external relationships.

Requirements Required Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in engineering Professional Engineer License (PE)

Preferred Education & Experience

Assists Project Managers with fee development for engineering portions of work Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards (AOC, GSA, ICC, NARA, NFPA, UFC, USG, VA, etc.) Demonstrated ability to develop strong client relationships and a substantial revenue base Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD Solid understanding of relevant software, including FDS, CONTAM, egress modeling software, AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, and the Microsoft Office suite Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately Strong communication skills essential for team-based and team-leading working Excellent planning and organization skills for a fast-paced environment; highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges Experience as an accomplished public speaker Understanding of the legal and financial aspects of professional practice, particularly as they relate to fee, risk management, and contract negotiation

Preferred Qualifications

Stay knowledgeable of current NFPA standards including Life Safety Code (101) and national building and fire codes Evaluate existing and proposed building designs for fire/life safety deficiencies and requirements across architectural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical designs Competency with stairwell pressurization, atrium smoke control, and high-rise smoke control designs Provide oversight of fire/smoke detection and alarm system designs Design competency in wet/dry/pre-action sprinkler systems and fire suppression and alarm systems Establish basis of design and prepare complete specifications, studies, and reports Perform hydraulic calculations and develop layouts for piping, heads, and nozzles Oversee production of documents to meet project schedules and perform QA/QC on fire protection design Participate in business development activities including client interviews and cost proposals for fire protection services

Salary range for this position varies between $100,000 $150,000, depending upon applicable experience. Benefits
