HR Director – Tech Start-Up (On-Site, NJ)

Representing a dynamic startup provider in the technology sector, we are proud to be leading the search for an HR Director. This newly created role will drive strategic HR initiatives across hiring, performance, and employee engagement in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This is a pivotal role offering the opportunity to influence culture, build processes, and drive performance.
As the HR Director, you will be responsible for:
Lead all core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefits, payroll, compensation, compliance, and employee relations
Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies to attract and retain top talent
Partner with leadership to align HR strategy with business goals and team structure
Coach managers on performance development and team dynamics
Facilitate compensation conversations and guide business-driven decisions
Identify gaps in team capabilities and support organizational design
Drive employee engagement, retention, and culture-building initiatives
Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies
Support leadership in navigating sensitive conversations and conflict resolution
To be successful in this role our client is looking for a:
Strategic and operational HR leader with 7+ years of progressive experience
Background in high-growth, dynamic environments such as startups or tech companies
Strong people skills and ability to connect authentically across all levels
Experience with PEOs and familiarity with DEI policies (preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field (Master’s or HR certifications preferred)
Comfortable with tough conversations and coaching for performance
Energetic, empathetic, and future-focused mindset
Experience in software, SaaS, or IT sectors (preferred)
