Role overview: The Solutions Architect is a critical member of the North American Technical Solutions team, providing expert-level knowledge of Ross Video products and solutions. This role scopes and designs complex technical solutions for customers across North America and multiple verticals including traditional broadcast, government, education, corporate and house of worship. The role blends solution architecture expertise with customer-facing skills and pre-sales experience.

What the job is all about

The Solutions Architect designs and reviews solutions based on technical RFP/tender specifications, develops customized, scalable solution architectures addressing intricate customer requirements, and collaborates with Ross’ internal teams and partners to ensure solutions are supported and maintainable. You will engage in customer-facing product presentations, demos, training, and workflow guidance at customer premises or tradeshows. This role involves pre-sales technical engineering and project management, and adherence to Ross Video Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Participates and contributes to sales opportunities driven by the Business Development Managers and Regional Sales Managers, prioritizing efforts to maximize team productivity.
  • Design and review solutions based on technical RFP/Tender specifications.
  • Develop and review highly customized, scalable solution architectures for customer specifications across broadcast and corporate industries, with emphasis on signal processing.
  • Coordinate with internal sales teams and business partners to design solutions meeting customer requirements.
  • Engage in customer-facing presentations, demos, training, and workflow guidance for end-users and partners.
  • Pre-sales technical engineering and project management.
  • Ensure product line compliance with Ross Video Code of Ethics.
  • Work on systems-oriented and highly technical projects.
  • Create conceptual sales drawings capturing opportunities and variations for use by other Ross groups.
  • Assist sales during project discovery calls and prepare customer-facing proposal supplements.
  • Act as a "Technical Evangelist" to build trust with partners and customers.
  • Provide client feedback to product teams regarding product and application requirements.

Who you are (Qualifications)

  • College Degree in Production Technology or Engineering, Video Production, Broadcasting, or related discipline (equivalent work experience in a B2B pre-sales engineering or Solutions Architect role will be considered).
  • 5+ years of combined sales, sales engineering, systems application, product specialist, or end-user experience.
  • Strong knowledge of pre-sales engineering principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with RFP/Tender documents.
  • Understanding of Media Workflows, newsroom production workflows, and content management systems.
  • Working knowledge of graphics systems, playback servers, production switchers, video scalers, video routers, device control protocols, and their roles in applications.
  • Experience selling Broadcast & Live Product equipment and services (Ross Video product knowledge preferred).
  • Knowledge of broadcast and live production industry, SMPTE 2110 IP and its implementation, product lines, key accounts, and competitors.
  • Proficiency in Visio and AutoCAD; strong in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, CAD; capable of producing complex technical drawings.
  • Proficient in Desktop and Server Networking; experience with CRM software (ideally Salesforce.com).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and cross-media communication skills; attention to detail; self-motivated; able to work independently and contribute to a positive team environment.

  • Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally to customer sites and/or major tradeshows and events.
