Base pay range
$150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr
Overview
The Senior Manager of Accounting Policy supports the Accounting Team through several functional areas including technical accounting analysis, new standards, and acquisitions. They assist in ensuring compliance with all recently issued and future FASB guidance (GAAP) and SEC accounting pronouncements and provide training on accounting policies and procedures across teams. They will have the opportunity to build on technical accounting knowledge and problem-solving skills, gain exposure to complex global business and accounting issues, and will work with senior leadership within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical accounting support and guidance for complex business transactions such as business combinations, lease accounting and joint ventures.
- Works on special projects and evaluates the appropriate accounting treatment for various strategic initiatives and unique business situations.
- Researches, interprets, and documents all new accounting standards to determine the accounting and financial reporting impact to the company.
- Interacts with accounting consultants and external auditors on technical accounting matters to ensure agreement on appropriate accounting conclusions.
- Builds and maintains relationships with key external parties including internal and external auditors.
- Supports the preparation and review of financial statement disclosures.
- Identifies process improvements in the accounting process and plays a key role in current improvement initiatives.
- Reviews month-end journal entries and supporting documents to ensure accuracy.
- Assists senior management with addressing issues and/or questions related to the monthly financial operating results and provides analysis of actual vs. budget variances.
- Performs ad hoc analysis to support the monthly management reporting process; develops and enforces internal controls over financial reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (Preferred)
- Active CPA
- 5+ years of public accounting or industry experience preferred
- 2+ years of experience researching, concluding upon, and documenting accounting issues preferred
- Knowledge of and proficiency in U.S. GAAP (Required)
- Experience with IFRS (Preferred)
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
