Responsibilities

  • The Area Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for leading and driving top-line revenue strategy across all major sales segments, including group and volume transient, for the anchored property (serving as Director of Sales & Marketing), while also overseeing sales synergies and performance for assigned area hotels.
  • Leverage strong brand expertise—particularly with Marriott and IHG brand systems, sales processes, and account management —to maximize market share and revenue opportunities across multiple properties.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, monitor market share shifts, and conduct ongoing competitive analysis, while directing property sales teams to ensure revenue goals are consistently achieved or exceeded.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing communications plan to position each hotel competitively in its market and manage the sales and marketing budgets to support revenue growth initiatives.
  • Serve as an ideal stepping stone toward regional oversight, offering hands-on multi-property sales leadership and strategic portfolio management experience.
  • Apply expertise with Marriott Sales Organization, Marriott Bonvoy platforms, IHG Sales Systems, and IHG Business Rewards channels to strengthen account penetration and optimize brand-related business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies tailored to Marriott and IHG distribution systems, loyalty channels, and global sales resources.
  • Create and execute marketing communications plans that align with each brand’s identity and positioning. Serve as the voice of the customer, ensuring guest and client feedback informs sales and service strategies.
  • Analyze Smith Travel Research data, financial P&L, group pace, and forecasting to guide strategic decisions.
  • Conduct competitive set reviews, SWOT analyses, and monitor the new supply pipeline. Develop targeted GEO-source plans and account strategies, including both existing and new key accounts.
  • Set sales production goals, measure group pace, and monitor sales team deployment and travel schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ownership groups, asset managers, and brand representatives at Marriott and IHG.
  • Formulate sales strategies that sustain high levels of occupancy and profitability in collaboration with department managers and their goals.
  • Boost revenue and increase new guest visits through strategic outbound sales efforts that may include phone solicitation to local professionals, corporations, and members of your personal network.
  • Design a strategy to meet hotel financial goals, create marketing deliverables, and develop an annual sales forecast by analyzing market data.
  • Create methods to help the sales team reach and surpass monthly room booking targets that are in line with the hotel's overall revenue management goals.
  • Organize meetings with department heads, report on sales activity for the previous and upcoming weeks, and produce a monthly expense report for all hotel sales-related expenses.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Demonstrated success with Marriott and IHG sales, platforms, loyalty programs, and brand partnership channels .
  • Preferred: Deep knowledge of all market segments, distribution channels, and brand-specific sales deployment strategies.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of success in sales through lead-generation and closing.
  • Prior experience in the hospitality field is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and leadership skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, preferably in the hospitality field, is required.

Compensation: $75,000 per year
