AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring BLS ACLS NRP Description: The unit has a total of 35 beds and is staffed by 160 personnel. The day shift consists of 2 charge nurses, 24 RNs, 5 surgical techs, 1 OR aide, 1 transport tech, 1 secretary, and 1 scheduler. The night shift includes 2 charge nurses, 21 RNs, 4 surgical techs, 1 OR aide, 1 secretary. Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 for laboring patients, and 2:1 for APU and PACU. Typical equipment includes Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics FM, panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, and NOVI wireless FME. EMR used is Centricity and Meditech. Typical procedures performed in the unit include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, PACU recovery, and antepartum care/testing. The dress code requires the wearing of royal blue scrubs. Unit policies include protocols for Pitocin and cervical ripening, magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol. The unit has received recognition as a Baby Friendly Designation.
