Pay Information $2,711 per week About The Position Job Title: NICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Duration: 17 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Must have a valid RN license in hand Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS Must-Have: Pediatric hospital experience required. Must work with vents 2-3 shifts per week. First-timers accepted. Floating required to Pediatric, PICU, or CVICU. Weekend coverage required every other weekend. Description: The NICU Registered Nurse will provide care for neonates and infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Responsibilities include the management and monitoring of patients diagnosed with conditions such as prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hyperbilirubinemia, and cardiac medical/surgical problems. Nurses will be required to work with equipment including bubble CPAP, conventional vents, and NIPPV. The position requires experience in general surgery, neonatal sepsis, and administration of medications including steroids. Candidates must be able to manage tracheostomy care, central lines, and perform blood draws. Nurses should have skills in critical care monitoring and neonatal dosage calculations. The ability to float to other units as needed is required. The role involves communicating effectively with interdisciplinary teams to provide optimal patient care. Additional responsibilities may include supporting pre-operative and post-operative care for neonatal patients. The daily census in the unit averages around 62 patients, with patient ratios ranging from 1 to 3. The candidate must display strong clinical judgment and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Reliability and commitment to the team are essential for this role. Administrative tasks including charting using designated systems are required as part of the position. Compliance with vaccination requirements is a condition of employment.
