Linux System Administrator
to join the Systems and Database Administration (SADA). This contract-to-hire position will support, configure, and maintain a complex IT environment to ensure stability, security, and scalability. \n\n \n Position Details \n\n

\n\n \n Key Responsibilities \n\n
\n\t
\n\t Administer and monitor Linux systems, OpenShift container platforms, and related IT infrastructure. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, middleware, application software, and system tools. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks (inventory management, roles, configurations). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Ensure maximum system uptime, reliability, and availability. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement fixes with development teams. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Maintain and enforce security, access controls, backups, and disaster recovery strategies. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Automate tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues with vendors and IT staff. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Respond to tickets and service requests from development and IT teams. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Support deployments, configurations, and patching activities. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and known issues. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Participate in after-hours support as needed. \n\t \n
\n\n \n Minimum Qualifications \n\n
\n\t
\n\t 8+ years of Linux administration experience. \n\t \n\t
\n\t 2+ years of OpenShift platform administration. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Strong experience with Linux servers (SLES, RHEL, and other distributions). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Proficiency with OpenShift CLI, architecture, containerization, and GitOps (ArgoCD). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in OpenShift. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Proven troubleshooting skills in Linux environments (logs, dumps, diagnostics). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Expertise in Ansible automation. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Experience with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Experience administering web servers (Apache, NGINX). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Icinga). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, networking protocols (TCP/UDP), and data center operations. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Self-motivated learner, embracing automation and emerging technologies. \n\t \n

\n\t 12+ years of Linux administration experience. \n\t \n\t
\n\t 4+ years of OpenShift administration. \n\t \n\t

\n\t Knowledge of managing container images (build, push, pull). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Experience with Java J2EE application stacks (WebSphere, Tomcat, Open Liberty). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Deep knowledge of Linux file systems (NFS, ext3, Ceph, etc.). \n\t \n\t
\n\t SUSE Linux Enterprise Server experience on IBM mainframe. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Experience with SUSE Manager and OpenShift Virtualization. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Familiarity with IBM Storage Protect (Tivoli Storage Manager/TSM). \n\t \n\t
\n\t Expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining z/VM and z/VSE. \n\t \n\t
\n\t Experience in mainframe storage management (DASD, virtual tape, physical tape). \n\t \n
