USA Tech Recruit
Overview
We are working with a cutting-edge electric mobility startup founded by a team of experienced engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs. Our focus is on building small, highly efficient electric vehicles that address today’s most pressing mobility challenges. Our mission is to inspire people to move differently — replacing short car and truck trips with more enjoyable, affordable, and ultra-efficient electric rides. Role
They are seeking the
Staff Actuator Design Engineer
to lead the development of electromechanical actuators that power critical systems in our next-generation lightweight electric vehicle platform. Key Responsibilities
Design electromechanical actuators and motor systems for lightweight EVs Develop CAD models and detailed manufacturing documentation for mechanical components and assemblies Collaborate with electrical and firmware teams to integrate control systems and electronics Work with suppliers to develop validation plans and conduct failure analysis to ensure high system reliability Build and test prototypes to validate designs and iterate toward optimal performance Key Qualifications
8+ years of experience electromechanical actuator or motion system designs Deep knowledge of motors, servo drives, sensors, and precision mechanical systems Strong modeling and simulation skills (MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys, Abaqus, HyperWorks, or similar) Programming experience in Python, C, and/or C++ for system integration and control Advanced CAD proficiency (CATIA preferred), with strong understanding of GD&T and materials Experience integrating electronics with mechanical systems in automotive or similar high-reliability applications Why Join
High impact and ownership
— Lead actuator design for an entirely new EV platform with direct access to senior leadership Market opportunity
— Well-funded (>$300M) and positioned to lead the rapidly growing “smaller-than-car” electric mobility segment Ideal stage
— A world-class team of ~120 engineers in a flat, collaborative environment where technical expertise drives decisions Python, C++, MATLAB, Simulink, PLM Systems, 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6 preferred), CAE tools (Ansys, Abaqus, HyperWorks, or similar) By applying to this role you understand that we may collect your personal data and store and process it on our systems.
